In case your iPod freezes, like mine did today, read this article
(http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61705) on Apple’s
support site. The cliff notes version:

* Plug your iPod into the AC adapter (not the firewire connection to a computer)
* Toggle the HOLD key on the top (i.e., flip to the left then back to the right)
* Press and hold the MENU and SELECT (the center button) or MENU and
PLAY depending on your model for about 6 seconds until the Apple logo
appears

This resets the iPod. It worked for me.
